I was recently asked to do a room makeover using GE Lighting!
Now that sounded like a fun challenge!? Lighting is HUGE!!!
Sometimes changing the lighting in a room can change the whole atmosphere!?
Annnd I had the perfect room in mind that needed a little something?my kitchen!
So I headed to Walmart to pick up the things I needed for my makeover!

As usual Walmart did not disappoint!?
It?s shelves were stocked full of lighting choices!
So much to choose from!?
I LOVED all the options from GE Lighting.???
Lots has changed since the last time I went shopping for light bulbs!

So here?s the run down on what I wanted to change in our kitchen.? We have a very long kitchen.? We have plenty of light coming in on one end.? Our table sits right in front of our patio doors & a window so during the day we get lots of natural light, but at night it?s a different story!? The light fixtures in our kitchen were waaaay too small.? So at night it was dark!? So I wanted to change that up!? We also had out dated light bulbs that were not energy efficient!? Not good!? I am all about saving some money.? So it was time to swap out those old bulbs for some new energy efficient ones!?

So here is what it looked like before:

I picked up some GE LED decorative candle bulbs for our chandelier.? I also picked up some GE Reveal light bulbs.? What I LOVED about both of these bulbs was that they looked like normal bulbs!? I?m not a huge fan of the swirly twirly type bulbs, so I was super excited about their design!? They are suppose to last 7+ years, too!? Yay!

Walmart also carries light fixtures, but I couldn?t find the exact one I wanted so on the way home we swung by a home improvement store, & I found a track lighting fixture that was a perfect match to the lights we already have.? So we grabbed that.? I knew that with the combination of the new bulbs & more lighting it was going to be AWESOME!?
I couldn?t wait to get home & put my hubby to work!? {Thanks, honey! You?re the best!}? Smile

I LOVE the new GE Lighting in our kitchen!? We really should of done this a long time ago!
I also love that we will be saving money in the long run by using energy efficient light bulbs.
Now if I can just get my kiddos to remember to turn their lights off when they leave a room & to close the door when they go outside we?d be doing even better! Winking smile

Try as we might to block it out, we just can't stand the whirring of our PC fan when it starts to act up. There may be an end to our cringing, as Austrian company Noctua is gearing up to debut a fan with integrated noise cancellation at Computex. The cooling fan to be shown in Taipei is only a prototype, but we know it's a Noctua NF-F12 model that uses noise-control technology from RotoSub. Luckily, Computex is less than a week away, so we'll soon have a better idea of whether this fan can keep our PC from sounding like a 777 ready for takeoff... we're sure our coworkers would appreciate it.

A number of the performances are plain stunning - Aran and Joan, in particular, seem born to move - and in many ways watching the movie is like watching a sporting event; there are winners and losers and favorites to cheer on.

Yes, it is possible to create a gripping documentary about the ballet world without resorting to "Black Swan" melodramatics.

Because its subjects are so driven and so talented, "First Position," which is about ballet, is more gripping than the norm.

It's in the quick audience-reaction shots of the young dancers' exultant parents and cringing private instructors that the movie finds its most nakedly human moments.

The film shows the grueling work it takes for young dancers like Zamora to look effortless on stage, and First Position shows teachers who range from supportive to borderline abusive.

It's a wealth of material at odds with a scant running time and shallow focus.

When it's over, you won't remember so much about who won and who lost. Instead, what remains is the expression on a young dancer's face, reflected in a mirror: showing the joy of being in love with what you do.

What we experience is the overwhelming thrill of the competition and the true agony of defeat.

It could very well compete for Best Documentary at next year's Academy Awards.

For someone (like me) who has never been to a ballet, the talent of these teens and tweens is a revelation.

It's 'Spartacus' en pointe.

Inspiring documentary about hardworking young dancers.

Almost loses its sense of good taste entirely in the final act, straining to build suspense and shape heroes. The bias hangs a little ugly in an otherwise passable, somewhat enlightening effort.

The cookie cutter format Kargman uses in presenting her subjects may be unoriginal but a safe way to introduce the filmmaker to her new audience.

Child ballet dancer and former journalist Bess Kargman brings a dancer's passion and insight to her directorial debut, illuminating the addictive magic and fierce demands of a ballet dancer's life.

Really, all of the dancers' evident passion for their art is, well, spellbinding.

These kids are proud of their tights.

Kargman follows the pre-established pattern of documentaries following competitions from crosswords to spelling bees, but the format works and she's found six kids ranging in age from 9 to 16 who are truly involving.

First Lady Michelle Obama revealed that tidbit and other details from the couple?s personal life in a People magazine interview that hit newsstands Friday.

"We have a ritual where he tucks me in, because I'm usually in bed before anybody," the First Lady spilled. "He'll come and turn the lights out and give me a kiss, and we'll talk. He's like, Ready to be tucked? I'm like, Yes I am.'"

Obama has been promoting her new book ?American Grown,? about the White House Kitchen Garden.

She served up a few other nuggests from behind the scene in People.

FLOTUS said she and her husband try to steal as much alone time as possible despite their busy schedules.

Congressman Ed Perlmutter plans to turn cartwheels in Commerce City?s parade

Despite his 2010 vow, Congressman Ed Perlmutter plans to turn cartwheels Monday in Commerce City?s Memorial Day parade.

His staff?s announcement about the cartwheels came as a surprise, considering what the Jefferson County Democrat said in 2010 after he whupped Republican Ryan Frazier. Syria denies responsibility for attack killing 90

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) ? The Syrian government on Sunday denied responsibility for killings in a string of villages that left more than 90 people dead, blaming the killings on "hundreds of heavily armed gunmen" who also attacked soldiers in the area.

Friday's assault on the central area of Houla was one of the bloodiest single events in Syria's 15-month-old uprising, and gruesome images of dozens of children killed in the attacks prompted a wave of international outrage.

The U.N. said 32 children under the age of 10 were among the dead and issued a statement appearing to hold the Syrian regime responsible. Persistent violence has cast doubt about the future of international efforts to halt 14 months of bloodshed between the regime and forces fighting against it.

The U.N. Security Council convened an emergency session for late Sunday to discuss the killing. Diplomats said Russia blocked a strong statement condemning the killing, insisting on a briefing from the head of the observer mission first.

Activists from Houla said Saturday that regime forces had peppered the area with mortar shells after large demonstrations against the regime on Friday. That evening, they said, pro-regime fighters known as shabiha stormed the villages, gunning down men in the streets and stabbing women and children in their homes.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Jihad Makdissi disputed those accounts, saying Syria is being subjected to a "tsunami of lies."

"We categorically deny the responsibility of government forces for the massacre," Makdissi said Sunday during a news conference in Damascus.

Giving the regime's version of events, Makdissi said "hundreds of heavily armed gunmen carrying machine guns, mortars and anti-tank missiles" launched a simultaneous attack against five army positions from several locations, starting about 2 p.m. and continuing for nine hours. Three soldiers were killed and 16 were wounded, he said.

"There were no Syrian tanks or artillery in the vicinity" of Houla, Makdissi said. He said that gunmen used anti-tank missiles and "Syrian troops retaliated in defense of their positions."

"Children, women and other innocent people were killed in their homes, and this is not what the Syrian army does," Makdissi said. "The method of killing was brutal."

Makdissi said a committee was set up to investigate the attack, and results should be out within three days. He added that Kofi Annan, the joint U.N.-Arab League envoy, will fly to Syria on Monday.

But a senior Arab League official said Syria has denied permission for Annan's deputy to travel to Damascus. Syria insisted the decision against former Palestinian Foreign Minister Nasser al-Kidwa was not personal, but rather because it did not want to deal with the Arab League, the official said on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject.

The Houla attacks sparked outrage from American and other international leaders, and renewed concerns about the relevance of a 6-week-old international peace plan that has not stopped almost daily violence. The U.N. put the death toll weeks ago at more than 9,000. Hundreds have been killed since.

U.N. observers, among more than 250 who were dispatched in recent weeks to try to salvage the cease-fire plan, found spent artillery and tank shells at the site Saturday ? a finding that points toward the government's heavily armed mechanized units.

On Sunday, Britain's Foreign Secretary William Hague said he would summon Syria's most senior diplomat in the U.K. on Monday so the Foreign Office's political director could "make clear our condemnation of the Syrian regime's actions."

Syria says the Arab League has become a tool of the West. The group suspended Syria's membership and approved sanctions against it late last year.

Kuwait, which currently heads the 22-member Cairo-based Arab League, announced it is calling for an Arab ministerial meeting that aims to "take steps to put an end to the oppressive practices against the Syrian people."

Late Saturday, Foreign Minister Sheik Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates condemned the killings in Houla and called for an urgent meeting of the Arab League.

Activists said government troops shelled residential areas in other areas of central Syria on Sunday.

The shelling hit neighborhoods in the central city of Hama and the rebel-held town of Rastan north of Homs, the Local Coordination Committees and the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The two groups also reported clashes between troops and rebels in Hama, in the Damascus suburb of Harasta and in the capital's central Midan district. They said a bomb struck a security vehicle in the capital's upscale district of Mazzeh, near a military airport, according to the LCC.

The Observatory said the vehicle bombing caused casualties but did not have further details.

Damascus is tightly controlled by regime forces but has been hit by a wave of bomb blasts over recent months that killed scores of people. Most of the blasts have targeted Syrian security agencies.

Michael Chiesa vs. Al Iaquinta final set for ?The Ultimate Fighter? finale

Friday night's "The Ultimate Fighter" finale is set as Michael Chiesa and Al Iaquinta won their semifinal bouts. The two Team Faber fighters will meet in the show's live finale on Friday in Las Vegas in a card that will feature Jake Ellenberger and Martin Kampmann in the main event.

Chiesa got an emotional TKO win for Team Faber. He slammed James Vick to his back, got full mount, and ground and pounded for the win. In training the day before the bout, Chiesa had broken down crying, admitting that he's still dealing with the death of his father.

"I feel great. It has been quite a journey. A lot of ups and downs but I feel like I've earned my spot in the finale and I'm very excited to seize the moment," Chiesa said.

Iaquinta earned the right to face his teammate with a unanimous decision win over Pichel. He used wrestling to control Team Cruz's Pichel for the first round, and won the edge in bloody striking in the second round.

"I couldn't have done it without a great team, great roommates. Everyone really helped me out. The coaching staff was just awesome. Everything was a dream come true. When I left I didn't know what I was getting myself into. Now I have the toughest fight of my life ahead of me, and I'm ready for it," Iaquinta said.

The winner of Friday's fight will get a six-figure UFC contract and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Early in Friday night's show, UFC president delivered good news to the cast. Every healthy fighter will fight on the finale. Mike Rio, who broke a rib in practice, and Andy Ogle, who was knocked out in a recent fight, will not fight. Because of Vick's knockout loss, he is medically suspended, leaving Vinc Pinchel without an opponent. They are expected to appear on a future UFC card.

Earlier start time, sweeper van among top 10 changes for Ski to Sea ...

Ski to Sea is the ever-evolving race. Here are the top 10 new things to watch for in 2012.

1. Beating the rooster: The start of Ski to Sea has been moved 15 minutes earlier to 7:45 a.m. The reason isn't to get skiers and runners out of bed earlier, but to make sure kayakers get into Fairhaven earlier to avoid late-afternoon winds that tend to kick up on Bellingham Bay. If all goes as planned, the last kayaker will be hitting the water at 5 p.m.

2. Cross-up on cross-country skiers : A late change made by Race Director Pete Coy was the decision to switch the order of the second and third loops of the cross-country skiing leg. The reasoning was to help prevent cross-country skiers from colliding with downhill skiers flying down the mountain at high speeds. But the change has since been reversed because it might cause more problems than it solved. So the course will be the same as previous years.

3. Sweeping up: Ski to Sea will send a "sweeper" van down the Mount Baker Highway at about 10:30 a.m. to sweep the course and pick up any runners it sees walking or still on the course. The runners will be given a ride to the Shuksan Department of Transportation shed and given a time. Their road biker may or may not still be at the DOT.

No teams will be disqualified, but it will allow the highway to be opened to westbound traffic earlier than in past years. The van also will sweep up on the road biking course to help any bikers that are struggling or need assistance.

4. Expanded early release: In an effort to speed the race along and make sure every team is finished close to 6 p.m., Ski to Sea plans to use early release much more at each of the six exchange points. Each exchange point will have 30 to 40 extra timing chips to hand out to teams that are near the back of the pack.

No teams will be disqualified because of early release - times from each leg will be compiled at the end of the day.

5. Music to their ears: Though the fastest ones on the course, in terms of speed, road bikers have always had the longest wait of any of the seven legs. Road bikers have to leave Bellingham at the same time as the skiers and runners, because of the road closure on Mount Baker Highway, but they have to wait up to three or four hours to compete at one of the most remote points on the course.

To help ease the boredom, Ski to Sea has invited a band to perform and will offer other forms of entertainment and even a tent and heaters if conditions warrant.

6. Changing gears: Ski to Sea is lightening the restrictions for bikes in the road and mountain biking legs this year, allowing Recreation Division riders to use the same bikes as the Open divisions.

Cyclocross bikes also are allowed this year in the mountain biking leg, which no longer has tire size restrictions for anybody.

7. Ship shape: While the biking regulations have gotten a bit more relaxed, enforcement of the rules in the canoe and kayak legs is going to tighten. Rather than letting competitors be responsible for their own boats, and therefore their own safety, organizers will more closely check to make sure each boat is river or seaworthy.

8. Course changes: The road biking leg is staying on Silver Lake Road, a change that was made last year and added about four miles in length. The mountain biking leg is returning to the approximately 12-mile-long course it used in 2010.

Last year, four loops, measuring about eight extra miles, were added to help the overall race measure 100 miles in length.

9. Measuring up: Ski to Sea has placed mile markers along the Nooksack River to help canoeists determine their speed and how much longer they have to paddle.

10. Expanded beer garden: Ski to Sea has expanded the finish line beer garden. It will continue the shuttle bus service it started last year, with stops in downtown Bellingham, the finish line/Fairhaven festival area and Zuanich Point Park, where the kayaks will launch for the final leg of the race.

Spectators and competitors are advised to park in downtown Bellingham or the available Western Washington University parking lots.

Former high school football star exonerated in rape case

A rising football star in southern California whose career was brought to a sudden halt by a kidnap-rape conviction that landed him in prison was exonerated today after his accuser contacted him on Facebook recanted her story.

"I'm just thankful to be free now and have the opportunity like anybody else to thrive in life," Brian Banks told ABC News Radio today. "I'm completely overwhelmed with so many emotions and feelings all at once."

In a hearing today, Banks shook from sobbing when prosecutors said they did not object to his conviction being reversed. His mother and girlfriend who were in court shrieked with happiness.

Banks, now 26, was 17 in 2002 and "by all accounts, a rising football star," according to court documents. Many believed the 6-foot-4, 225 pound athlete was bound for the NFL. The University of Southern California, a Division 1 school, had offered him a full-ride scholarship and a slew of other schools?including Michigan State University and University of Kansas?were pursuing the middle linebacker.

"Tragically, Banks would never realize his dream of going to college and playing college football," his attorneys wrote in court documents. "A high-school acquaintance?Wanetta Gibson?shattered that dream one fateful day after she accused Banks of rape and kidnapping following a consensual sexual encounter."

When Gibson accused Banks of rape following an encounter at Long Beach Polytechnic High School, his attorneys encouraged him to plead no contest instead of going to trial before a jury and risking 41 years in prison.

His attorneys said he "chose the lesser of two evils" when he pleaded no contest. Banks was sentenced to six years, which he served and is now on parole and registered as a sex offender.

On Feb. 28, 2011, Banks' story took a dramatic turn. Gibson, his accuser, requested his friendship on Facebook. He did not accept it, but asked her if she would meet with him and a private investigator. She agreed.

"Gibson met with Banks and a private investigator and recanted her preliminary hearing testimony that Banks raped her," his attorneys wrote. She said that the two had been "making out pretty heavy," but that they did not have intercourse or "anything like that."

"Gibson said that they were just playing around, being curious about sexuality, and that the adults got involved and blew it all out of proportion," according to legal documents. "She said the adults 'put stuff in [her] head.'"

The problem was that Gibson did not want to tell prosecutors the truth because she feared she would lose the $1.5 million she and her family won in a civil suit against Long Beach schools after the incident.

The California Innocence Project, a law school clinical program at California Western School of Law dedicated to releasing wrongfully convicted inmates, took on Banks' case and won his exoneration.

The Long Beach School District did not immediately respond to questions from ABCNews.com about whether they would seek the return of the money from the civil suit.

Now, Banks is more than happy to get back to his life with a clean slate and has not given up his NFL dreams.

"I've been training since October of last year in hopes of giving football another shot," Banks said. "I'm hoping to possibly receive a try out from a team."

He is also working on a documentary about his life, according to his website. He said his family is "ear to ear with smiles."

"Everybody's just yelling and hugs and kisses," he said. "Everyone's just happy. So we all have on these 'innocent' shirts and 'exonerate' shirts."

When asked if he harbors any bitterness or anger about what happened, he said, "I've been asked that question a couple of times and my answer's always been no. You know I can hold on to that, that bitterness and that anger. It won't get me anywhere."

Others, the majority, pull through and experiment how the intensity of negative emotions (e.g. anxiety, depression) grows dimmer with time until they adapt to the new situation. A third group is made up of individuals whose adversities have made them grow personally and whose life takes on new meaning, making them feel stronger than before.

Researchers at the Basic Psychology Unit at Universitat Autnoma de Barcelona analysed the responses of 254 students from the Faculty of Psychology in different questionnaires. The purpose was to evaluate their level of satisfaction with life and find connections between their resilience and their capacity of emotional recovery, one of the components of emotional intelligence which consists in the ability to control one's emotions and those of others.

Research data shows that students who are more resilient, 20% of those surveyed, are more satisfied with their lives and are also those who believe they have control over their emotions and their state of mind. Resilience therefore has a positive prediction effect on the level of satisfaction with one's life.

"Some of the characteristics of being resilient can be worked on and improved, such as self-esteem and being able to regulate one's emotions. Learning these techniques can offer people the resources needed to help them adapt and improve their quality of life", explains Dr Joaqun T Limonero, professor of the UAB Research Group on Stress and Health at UAB and coordinator of the research.
