Congressman Ed Perlmutter plans to turn cartwheels in Commerce City?s parade

Despite his 2010 vow, Congressman Ed Perlmutter plans to turn cartwheels Monday in Commerce City?s Memorial Day parade.

His staff?s announcement about the cartwheels came as a surprise, considering what the Jefferson County Democrat said in 2010 after he whupped Republican Ryan Frazier. When Perlmutter took the stage after state Democratic party chairwoman, he did two cartwheels to the crowd?s delight and then announced he was retiring from political gymnastics.

Perlmutter?s cartwheeling at 7th District parades didn?t attract attention until Frazier aired an ad that brought the maneuver to the public?s attention. The ad backfired in a way because what people talked about was Perlmutter?s cartwheeling, not Frazier?s message.

Perlmutter in November faces Republican Joe Coors, who has bought nearly $400,000 worth of TV time for an ad expect to debut soon. No word on what?s in it yet, but don?t expect cartwheels.
