Tampa Bay Rays pitcher and Clayton, N.C., native?Chris Archer?has partnered with Good Sports - a national nonprofit that provides athletic goods to disadvantaged youth - to provide $58,000 worth of sporting equipment to Raleigh Boys and Girls Clubs.
United Way of the Greater Triangle's board of directors released the results of the 2012 campaign. Highlights include: 2012 total revenues are projected to be $15 million, equal to the prior year; $10.6 million in donations, including donor-designated as well as Give United funds, will be distributed to nonprofits this year; and $5.3 million in Give United funds will be distributed to United Way approved programs, a two percent increase in available funds, the first increase in five years.
The Raleigh affiliate of the?National Christian Foundation?(NCF) reported record growth in 2012 charitable giving compared to 2011. Contributions increased by 50 percent from 2011 to 2012. There were 40 new fund accounts opened, bringing the total to more than 200 active funds. Since 1982, at the national level NCF has received more than $5 billion in contributions from generous givers and granted $3.3 billion to more than 30,000 churches, ministries, and charities.
The Lucy Daniels Center has been selected as a local nonprofit partner in Saks Fifth Avenue's Saks Loves Your Cause program. The store will donate 5 percent of purchases made by new or existing Saks Card users when they designate the center as their local charity of choice. The program runs Feb. 1-28.

The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County has named Devon Healy Mackay as director of major gifts.? Mackay has seven years of experience in marketing and events management that included positions at the Yale Center for British Art and the City of New Haven, Conn., and, most recently, the Mullen advertising agency in Winston-Salem.
The Autism Society of North Carolina has hired Dr. Alexander Myers as clinical director, funded through a $100,000 gift from the Ireland Family Foundation. Myers has more than 30 years of experience working with individuals with autism.
DHIC Inc., a nonprofit organization that serves more than 3,000 lower income individuals in the Triangle area, announced that?Ralph Recchie, director of real estate at NC State University,?has been appointed to its board of directors. Sam Crutchfield?with Grubb Properties has been elected to serve as chair and?Dr. Norman Camp?will serve as vice chair.
Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina announced that?Ben Brookhart?and?Frank Gozzo?have been appointed to its board of directors.? Led by?chair?John Elmo?and?chair elect?Rick Deckelbaum, the board serves to protect the chapter's assets, ensure its accountability and maintain its legal integrity.
